How To Transfer a Domain Name to Another Registry
The transfer of a domain name to another registry is known as a domain transfer. One reason a domain would be transferred to another registry or registrar is because of price variations. The price paid for a domain name can vary from registrar to registrar. Domain name transfers generally take between five and seven days. You can transfer a domain name to another registry by first unlocking the domain name at your current registrar.
Instructions

Unlock Domain Name
Step 1
Log into your account at the registrar for your domain name.
Step 2
Select the domain name you want to transfer and then access the available options.
Step 3
Click the option for Locking/Unlocking Domain. Unlock the domain and then save the change.
Initiate Domain Transfer
Step 1
Contact your current registrar or go into your account and cancel the private registration for the domain, if applicable.
Step 2
Contact the new registrar to see if an authorization code is needed to transfer the domain. If a code is needed, go into your account to obtain an authorization code or have the code sent by email.
Step 3
Review the email that is sent by your current registrar that has instructions for completing the domain name transfer.
Step 4
Reply or click the link in the email to authorize or deny the transfer to the new registrar. If you do not respond within five days, the transfer will be completed automatically.
Step 5
Review the confirmation email to verify that the transfer has been completed. Log into your account at the new registrar to see that the domain name has been successfully transferred.
