Setting up the mail servers for Microsoft Outlook is fairly simple. Microsoft Outlook does not replace the mail account that you have with your Internet service provider (ISP), it simply imports the emails. You can set up several email accounts with Microsoft Outlook. Microsoft Outlook is extremely convenient: It allows you to check several different email accounts at once, rather than having to access a variety of websites.
Instructions
Difficulty:
Step 1
Open Microsoft Office email and click "Tools" at the top of the screen on the left-hand side. Depending on the year of your Microsoft Outlook software, you will choose either "Options" or "Email Accounts" from the drop-down menu.
Step 2
Click "Add a new email account." If you have a newer version of Microsoft Outlook, click the "Mail Setup" tab, then "Email Accounts" and "New."
Step 3
Choose your server type. Your server type will depend on your ISP. You can usually find the type of server you are to use by checking the mail help menu when checking your mail at your actual ISP site.
Step 4
Input your name, username, email address and password. Click "Next."
Step 5
Input your incoming and outgoing mail server. To find the information, contact your ISP, or look in the help section of your email. An incoming mail server may look like this: mail.ISPname.com. An outgoing mail server may look like this: smtp.ISPname.com. Each ISP is different in this regard.
Step 6
Click "Next" and then "Finish" to confirm.
