Domain name service (DNS) information is the information that tells your computer how to match domain names with their associated IP addresses. DNS servers hold this information and are updated multiple times each day with the latest sets of associations. While most computers automatically obtain DNS server information from their ISP's web connection, you may want to hardcode the DNS information into your computer so that it uses a specific set of DNS servers.
