How To Find Domains for Sale
Although there are hundreds upon hundreds of domains that are currently off the market, there are just as many available for you to purchase. Searching for an available domain may seem like a daunting task, but agencies and organizations have streamlined this process. As a result, finding domains that are for sale requires little technical savvy and can be done in a matter of minutes. After you've determined the domain name you wish to purchase, you can begin the search process.
Instructions
Difficulty:
Step 1
Go to whois.net, a free service that allows you to search for domains and see which ones are available for sale.
Step 2
Locate the option that says, "Domain Lookup" and type the name of a domain you're interested in purchasing--for example, "mydomainname" or "hellodomain."
Step 3
Select the suffix you're interested in using. For example, you can choose from .com, .org, .info, .net and more.
Step 4
Click "Go!" and wait for the results to appear.
Step 5
Wait for the result page to load to tell you whether or not the domain is available. If it is not available, you will receive a message that says, "We're sorry, but the domain name you requested is unavailable at this time." Other domains that are similar and currently available are listed below the message.
Step 6
Go back to whois.net and enter a new domain if you are not satisfied with the list of available domains for sale.
