How to Build a Website With Piczo

Piczo is an online community built for teens. The site allows users to build their own personal web pages or blogs that can feature a variety of content including journal writings, video and photos. Piczo members may also add other interactive features to their pages such as polls and games. Users are also able to meet other members in the Piczo community and learn about their interests, tastes and personal journeys through their Piczo pages.

Instructions

Difficulty: 1

Step 1

Go to Piczo and log in to your account. If you don't have an account, you can quickly select the "Join" option and create one. Registration requires that you create a user name, select a password and enter your email address.

Step 2

Hit the "Create" option in the navigation bar at the top of the page. Pick "Create a Website" from the Create menu.

Step 3

Enter a name your Piczo website in the field underneath "Give Your Site an Address." This name will be part of your unique Piczo URL address. For example, if your page name is "myexample," your full Piczo domain name will become "http://myexample.piczo.com."

Step 4

Click on "Edit Your Site."

Step 5

Select "Add Page" in the navigation bar and select from the list of themes to create a custom look for your page. You can select from a variety of themes. To pick one, select it with your mouse, then hit "Add Page" at the bottom of the theme selection box.

Step 6

Enter your page name. This is different from the name you selected in Step 3. Each Piczo site may have several different pages (e.g., About Us, Home Page or Contact Us). Enter the name for this particular page in the "Page Name" field. Then, underneath that field, enter the exact URL for this particular page in the "URL Page Name" field. For example, the page name may be "About Me," and your URL may be "myexample.pizco.com/aboutme."

Step 7

Select your privacy options below the URL and page name options. You may allow everyone in the world to view your page, only other Piczo members, only friends or only those you give a password to. Select "OK." You will be redirected to the Page Editor.

Step 8

Select a customization in the "Tools" tab in the Page Editor. Select to add content to your page such as a picture, a video, html code, game, poll, widget or a background to your page. For example, to add text to your page, select the "Text" icon in the Tools tab. Enter your text in the "Add Text" pop-up window. Customize your text in the same window by changing the font type, size or color in the corresponding options below the text box. Press "OK" to save your text.

Step 9

Add pictures to your Piczo web page. Click the "Picture" icon in the Tools menu. Press the "Choose Pictures" button. In the browser box, locate your picture on your computer and select it with your mouse. Click "Open" to add it to your interface.

Step 10

Move your added content. Each bit of content that you add is added to the page into boxes. To move, for example, your text or a picture to a different place on your page, select the small "Hand" icon on the top-right of the box with your mouse and drag the box to a different location on your page.

Step 11

Press the "Preview" button to view how your page will look on the web and to save your changes.
