How Do I Transfer Ownership of a Domain Name?
Transferring a domain name is a procedure that is typically done when a domain name needs to be moved or changed from one account to another. This is a process that can easily be done when both the old and new owners have an account with the same registrar. You can transfer ownership of a domain name by first verifying that the new domain owner's account is active with the registrar.

Step 1
Gather the contact information for the person or entity to whom you will be transferring ownership of the domain. This will include a first name, a last name and email address. You may also need their address and telephone number.
Step 2
Obtain the username or client number for the new owner's account.
Step 3
Log into your account with your username and password at the registrar that you use to manage your domain.
Step 4
Go to the Domain drop-down and select "My Domain Names" from the list.
Step 5
Put a check in the box that is next to the domain name for which you want to transfer ownership. Find and click the "Account Change" icon on the menu bar. This will display the Initiate Account Change screen.
Step 6
Enter the contact information that you gathered in step 1. Enter the information in the required fields and then put a check to indicate that you have read the Domain Name Change Registrant Agreement.
Step 7
Click "OK" to begin the domain name ownership transfer process.
