How Can I Check When a Domain Name Will Expire?
Domain names, such as domainname.com, are purchased through a registrar. The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) requires the registrar to pass the domain name's details, such as the purchase date and the registrant's name and address, on to the Network Solutions WHOIS database. This database is available to the public, giving anyone access to view certain domain name details, including the expiration date. All domain names have an expiration date, which is based on when the registrant purchased the domain.
Instructions
Difficulty:
Step 1
Open your web browser and visit the Network Solutions WHOIS website (see Resources).
Step 2
Type in the domain name in the "WHOIS Lookup Database" text box. Click on the drop-down box to change the domain name extension, if applicable. Press "Go."
Step 3
Scroll down until you find the "Expiration Date" field in the domain name's record. This shows you the date on which the domain name expires.
